This song narrates the human qualities embodied by the concept of "Sinankouya," a form of playful kinship deeply rooted in Malian society. "Sinankouya," as a pact of non-aggression, weaves connections among diverse communities in Mali, with the aim of preserving peace and maintaining strong social cohesion. This tradition, embedded in the Kouroukan Fouga charter since the 13th century by Mali's emperor, Soundiata Keïta, aims to strengthen the social fabric and cultivate a spirit of solidarity among different groups. Through "Sinankouya," Malian communities, and even those from the broader region, are permitted to exchange banter, jests, and provocations without giving rise to anger or resentment.
